The Ordkalotten International Literature Festival will be held this year from 9 to 11 November in Tromsø. As always, it will focus on two main profiles – one dead and one living. This year, the featured authors are Sissel Solbjørg Bjugn and Herbjørg Wassmo.

“The Ordkalotten International Film Festival has grown in recent years, peaking in 2022 with sold-out days and a good turnout,” says festival director Ingvild Solstad-Nøis with satisfaction. She says Ordkalotten differs from other festivals by steering away from book launches and, since it is based in the Arctic, it focuses on indigenous peoples, the trilingual situation in Norway with the Norwegian, Sami and Kven languages, and emphasises the close connections we have with our northern neighbours such as Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Canada. This year’s theme is “Legacy”.
