Seminar: Two years of NJP – eight projects
January 17 2020 18:00–
At 6 p.m. on Friday, 17 January 2020, you will have the opportunity to meet the eight photographers featured in the fourth round of the Norwegian Journal of Photography (NJP) at Fritt Ord’s premises in Oslo.
In conversation with Susanne Østby Sæther, curator at the Henie Onstad Art Centre, and Jonas Ekeberg, the incoming artistic director at the new House of Photography, the photographers will talk about their NJP projects.
Katinka Goldberg, Damian Michal Heinisch, Therese Alice Sanne, Elin Høyland, Monica Strømdahl, Fred Ivar Klemetsen, Line Ørnes Søndergaard and Paul Sigve Amundsen will take you along on a journey to flophouses in the USA, follow in the tracks of family members in Ukraine, Germany and Sweden, and into Norwegian homes that display portraits of the royal family.
They will tell about visits to old flames and acquaintances the world over, about mental health among young people in Norway, and about a road trip covering many thousands of kilometres to visit more than 35 European countries.
The projects are featured in the fourth edition of the Norwegian Journal of Photography, which was launched at the opening of the formidable NJP exhibition at the Henie Onstad Art Centre last august.
Following the talks, Jonas Ekeberg will be asked to talk about the part documentary photography will play in the new House of Photography.
Words of welcome by Bente Roalsvig, Fritt Ord, and NJP editors Laara Matsen and Rune Eraker.
The event is free of charge and open to the public. It will take place on Friday, 17 January, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fritt Ord’s premises at Uranienborgveien 2, 0258 Oslo.
