The Reuters Digital News Report

The Reuters Digital News Report is a “state of the world” overview of global news and the world’s largest media study on the development of digital news consumption.

The global report is produced by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford and supported by Fritt Ord. The study compares developments in the Norwegian media market with 48 other countries (2025) across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Its purpose is to map how people consume news across platforms and formats in different parts of the world.
The report has been published annually since 2012 and is supported by Fritt Ord. The Norwegian sub-report is produced in collaboration with the University of Bergen and has been published since 2017. The report is released every June, simultaneously across the world.
