BRITDOC’s Impact Producer Lab in Finland

10. november 2014

In preparation for Good Pitch Europe in the Nordic countries, BRITDOC is hosting an Impact Producers Lab in Finland from January 7th-9th 2015, specifically for Nordic professionals. Closing date for applications is 21st November 2014.

We are looking for anyone from the Nordic countries eager to learn more about how to use documentary film as a tool for social or environmental change. We are looking to work with eight established Nordic professionals from the worlds of film, campaigning, journalism, politics and marketing & PR.

The Good Pitch programme connects the world’s best social justice films with new allies and partners, offering new funding and distribution opportunities. The model has spread around the world over the last seven years as the global community looks for new and sustainable opportunities to support independent documentary filmmaking.

In that time, the media and cultural landscape has shifted profoundly and more filmmakers have had the ambition to create impact with their work. Their success – from The End of the Line and Age of Stupid, through to Give Up Tomorrow, Burma VJ, The Act Of Killing, Armadillo, Big Boys Gone Bananas!* & The Interrupters – has created more interest in, and excitement about, in the unique role films can play in social change.

Both in the US and Europe more funds are now available to pay for ‘outreach and engagement’ to ensure films hit their target audiences. However, there is a shortage of professionals to handle this work. Just as films have producers to manage the creative and financial process from script to screen, some films now need specialised impact producers to take the film from completion to impact.

At BRITDOC we are helping to train up this new generation, and this winter we are looking to select eight individuals from the Nordic Countries who are either doing this work, or ready to step into this role. See more at: http://britdoc.org/real_good/impact-producer-lab.
