epea 02: The New Social - utstillingsåpning i Paris
22. oktober 2014 åpner det europeiske fotoprosjektet epea utstillingen «European Photo Exhibition Award 02: The New Social» i Paris.
Utstillingen ble vist ved Nobels Fredssenter i Oslo i perioden 3. mars – 27. april 2014, hvor den ble den sett av over 20 000 besøkende, og i Lucca, Italia 6. september – 6. oktober. Paris er tredje stopp på en utstillingsrunde i Europa. I løpet av våren 2015 vil fotoessayene også bli vist Hamburg.
De tolv fotografene er Patricia Almeida (Portugal), Massimo Berruti (Italia), Eric Giraudet de Boudemange (Frankrike), Jan Brykczynski (Polen), André Cepeda (Portugal), Linda Bournane Engelberth (Norge), Simona Ghizzoni (Italia), Kirill Golovchenko (Ukraina), Arja Hyytiäinen (Finland), Espen Rasmussen (Norge), Stefanie Steinkopf (Tyskland) og Paula Winkler (Tyskland).
Jan Brykczynski har i sin fotoserie «Collections» tolket temaet «The New Social» på følgende måte:
«In Europe, more people than ever reach the age of 90 nowadays. That fact not only changes the structure of the society, but also brings new personal challenges like living through different eras and staying up to date in a changing world.
Life equals collecting. The longer we live, the larger our collection of objects, relations, emotions, experiences and memories of people, places and events gets. They fill our houses and our heads. How do we cope with them? What are the things we decide to keep and why? What periods of life do they come from and with whom are they associated? Which memories stay clear in our minds and which ones dissolve and become less accessible?
My project embodies an attempt to trace the remnants of the life of one person. While very well documented, this life was every bit as unique as the life of each and every one of us.»
