The football magazine Josimar has been granted NOK 500 000 in support for investigative journalism to cover corruption and human rights abuse in international top football. The support will be used, among other things, for a special issue on abuses of human rights against migrant workers in Qatar.
On Thursday, 21 April 2022, Lise Klaveness was awarded the Freedom of Expression Foundation Tribute for the brave, no nonsense speech addressing human rights violations and discrimination she delivered at the international FIFA Congress in Qatar on Thursday, 31 March. The prize was awarded by Frank Rossavik, a member of Fritt Ord’s board.

The Human International Film Festival and Fritt Ord invite the public to the Norwegian premiere of the new documentary film ‘Myanmar Diaries’, followed by a talk session, at 5 p.m. on Thursday, 3 March at the Vega Scene in Oslo. Made by the Myanmar Film Collective, the film recently won the Berlinale Documentary Award.
Magnum photographer Jonas Bendiksen will present his book The Book of Veles at Fritt Ord’s premises at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 1 March. The programme will also include talks with five of the new photographers chosen to participate in The Norwegian Journal of Photography (NJP).
Since 1963, the book boat Epos has been a popular bearer of culture to small ports and villages up and down the west coast of Norway. After Epos’ very existence was threatened, Fritt Ord responded by granting MNOK 3 over a three-year period to keep it afloat.
The award-winning animated film FLEE has been nominated for Oscars in the categories for Best International Documentary Feature, Best Animated Feature Film and Best International Feature Film.
